Emerson Leaves Milan

A statement on the official Milan website explained that his contract has been terminated.
"AC Milan announces that the player, Emerson Ferreira Da Rosa, has successfully applied to resolve his contract with immediate effect, because of personal reasons," explained the release.
"We thank him for his experience demonstrated during his time as a Rossonero and Milanwishes him the best in the future." The former Brazil international arrived in Milan in 2007, after just one season with Real Madrid.

However, since joining Milan he has not been able to secure a place in the starting lineup, only making 35 appearances over two season, with a majority of them being from the substitutes bench. The former Roma, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen player has yet to reveal any plans for the future and due to his age, it is conceivable
he could retire from football altogether.

Inzaghi's Hattrick

Filippo Inzaghi was over the moon thanks to his hat-trick in the 5-1 win
over Torino, which allowed Milan to obtain three precious points in the
race for the second place in Serie A. However, Inzaghi said he felt sorry
for Torino coach Giancarlo Camolese, who seems to be his favourite
victim.
"This was my third hat-trick against Camolese," affirmed Inzaghi
to Milan Channel. "I'm a bit sorry because I see him as a good person
and coach." Inzaghi may have been the one whose picture was
plastered across Italy's front pages, but he was quick to highlight his
team-mates' contributions. "This is my tenth hat-trick in the league.
David Beckham was very good to serve me those crosses," he said.
"Even Mathieu Flamini played very well in a new position for him. He
was ready for this role and his physical condition is wonderful right
now." "The only regret we have for this season are the injuries which we
had because this Milan side can still be competitive with anyone,
especially in Italy."

Ancelotti: "Inzaghi is A Big Kid"

“I've been working with Inzaghi for 10 years, I can't stand the sight of him
anymore! It's great to see him play like this and he may be 36, but he
has the enthusiasm of a kid and that is his secret.” Inzaghi's hat-trick
sparked a 5-1 victory over Torino that sent Milan into joint second place
with Juventus “This team still has a lot to give, even though this season
the performances have been inconsistent. Tonight we got both the result
and good football, which we haven't always managed recently.

The pleasant surprise was Flamini, who interpreted the full-back role very
well with pace, attacking momentum and good passing. Considering he
hadn't played there this year, he did extremely well.” Milan are now
second and are the most prolific team in Serie A, earning more points
and conceding fewer goals at home than any other side, yet they were
out of the title race by February. “I think Milan worked well on the transfer
market with useful players, but the trouble is we haven't been able to
use many of them due to injuries, such as Borriello. In the crucial weeks
of the season we lost precious points because of that situation."

“It's true we have dropped precious points on our travels in games where
we were often leading, such as at Torino and Lecce,” continued
Ancelotti. “The team has not changed its attitude, but perhaps the
absence of experienced players at the back makes itself felt more away
from home when the opposition is more attacking." “The important thing
is to finish in the top three, whether second or third is irrelevant. Of
course there is a prestige to being runners-up to Inter and we can think
about this now that we have a good advantage over fourth.”

Ancelotti's Problem

Ancelotti’s contract with Milan expires in
2010 and he will be released if Milan fail to finish in the top three this
season. “Ancelotti is the most sought-after Coach in the football
universe,” said the specialist in the Liga market. "He is wanted by Real
Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Roma." “There
is a great fondness between Ancelotti and Vice-President Adriano
Galliani. Because of this they will only decide what to do at the end of
May.” Ancelotti has won the Champions League twice and reached
three Finals, also lifting the Scudetto, Coppa Italia, Italian Super Cup,
two UEFA Super Cups and the 2007 Club World Cup. Real Madrid are
also very keen to bring in another Milan figure, Kaka, but Bronzetti does
not hold out much hope. “Real still don’t have a President, although what
I hear in Spain suggests Florentino Perez has it sealed up. He will
make three big splashes on the transfer market. His main dream is
Kaka, but it’s going to be very difficult to pry him away from Milan."

Kaka Wait for New Milan Era

Milan have long been criticised for their ageing team and even the
Ballon d’Or winner admits the time has come to make sweeping
changes. “We are reaching the end of an era and another will begin,” he
told Sky Italia television. “Perhaps this is an historic moment and the
time has come to renew this squad with so many players at the end of
their contracts and others who can come in. We can create a mix of
experienced players and youngsters who are very hungry for success.”
Among those packing their bags at the end of this season are Paolo
Maldini, Emerson, Giuseppe Favalli and possibly Nelson Dida. “I like
modern players who know how to attack and defend,” continued Kaka.
“If it were up to me then I’d sign someone like Gerrard, who I think is the
complete package. He can play anywhere, as a trequartista, deep
midfielder or on the right. I think he’d fit in very well at Milan.”

Galliani Rejects Kaka Rumours

Every morning I read some fantastical stories in the papers and some
of it is very amusing,” said Galliani. “The reality though, let us be clear,
is very different. The truth is there are no negotiations for the sale of
Ricardo Kaka. Seeing as we’re here, I may as well point out for future
reference that there are no talks for any other players under contract in
our squad either.” The newspapers in Spain and England have been
filled with details of potential switches to either Real Madrid or Chelsea

Gattuso Demands Reinforcement

Milan are down to the bare bones at the back after injuries to
Alessandro Nesta, Kakha Kaladze and Daniele Bonera. Paolo Maldini
is set to retire this summer and Milan are not expected to take up the
option to buy Philippe Senderos from Arsenal, making the defensive
line look even more threadbare. Although Milan have already signed
two young Brazilian defenders, Thiago Silva and Felipe Mattioni,
Gattuso is not yet satisfied. “Some reinforcements in defence will have
to arrive,” Gattuso said, before making a case for Senderos to stay at
Milan. “He is a good lad and I am happy that, on some occasions, he
has proved decisive,” Gattuso explained. “We have had seven big
injuries this year in all departments. Every department has suffered from
this situation, not one has been excluded. The defence needs
reinforcing,” he added. Gattuso was then drawn on the abuse Inter

Coach Jose Mourinho continues to hurl at Carlo Ancelotti. “I neither
want to argue with him, nor with anyone else, but just close your eyes
and try to imagine what it means to be a protagonist in five Champions
League Finals,” he said, referring to Ancelotti. Gattuso later tried to play
down talk of a rift between Milan and Kaka, who recently complained
about the treatment he received for an injury at the club. “The argument
over his injury came from Dunga, not from him,” Gattuso concluded. “I
know players from other teams, who come to heal at Milan Lab.”
