It's not Borriello's Season...

Borriello went under the knife in a Pisa clinic, where a cyst was removed from one of the muscles in his leg. Sportmediaset reports that the surgery went well and Milan medics are happy with the outcome.

Borriello returned to Milan in the summer, but he has hardly featured this season, as a pre-season injury has taken it's toll. A flexor muscle in Borriello's right leg has hampered his progress and the cyst which appeared has not helped his cause.

The surgery means his season is definitely over, as he will not be able to recover in time. It is now hoped that he make a full recovery and return in top shape for next season.

New Injury For Nesta

According to reports, there is more bad news for Milan fans surrounding Alessandro Nesta. The defender's back has been giving him problems again, so much so that this morning he was reportedly unable to get out of bed!

Although Nesta and Milan's medical staff want to remain optimistic, considering the progress he was making on his long-lasting back problems, following his rehabilitation period in the United States, this latest setback is a major blow.

The most likely option now for Nesta is a surgical operation, but in that case his playing career might be in jeopardy. The next few days will be very difficult for Nesta and the medical staff, as they will have to evaluate the situation carefully and find the best solution to resolve the problem, without trying to find the quickest and easiest outcome.

So far Nesta has failed to make a single official appearance for Milan this season. It was expected he could come on the bench for this weekend's derby against Inter.

Last Derby For "IL Capitano"

Milan legend Paolo Maldini has revealed that Sunday's Derby della Maddonina will be his last and hopes to go out with a bang!

The 40-year-old will turn out for Milan this Sunday in what will be an emotional night for 'Il Capitano'. The game will also represent a chance to make up for lost ground on leaders and bitter rivals Inter.

Maldini is proud to have played in so many derbies over the years and he still harbours hope of lifting the Scudetto at the end of the season. "It will be my last derby on Sunday," Maldini told Il Corriere Della Sera.

"With the return fixture list, every game against every team will be my last. It does make me feel proud."

"My dream is to win my final derby and this is the only thing that matters to me. A win will help us rekindle our hopes to win the Scudetto."

Maldini has played over 50 derbies for Milan during his career and he holds the all-time appearance record in the fixture. The legend will be hoping his last derby ends with something to celebrate as his side continue to fight for honours this season.

Kaka' Will Miss Derby

Kaka limped off in evident pain during last night’s 1-1 draw with Reggina at the San Siro. He was rushed to hospital for X-Rays after Coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted he was “worried,” but no fractures or lesions were found.

However, more tests confirmed the diagnosis of a sprained left foot that will keep him out of action for “at least two weeks,” according to a note released by the official club website.

This means Kaka will miss out on Tuesday’s international friendly between Brazil and Italy, to be played in London’s Emirates Stadium.

He will above all be ruled out of next Sunday night’s Milan derby and most likely also the home Serie A game with Cagliari on February 22.

It is a bitter blow for Milan, but means Ronaldinho is now the favourite to start the derby. He has positive memories of this match, as he scored his debut Serie A goal against Inter earlier this season.

Milan Sign Marco Rossi

Milan has further reinforced the defense with another youngster, recruiting 21yo Parma defender Marco Rossi.

Rossi is the third young defender recruited during the January transfer window, following on from Brazilian's Thiago Silva e Felipe Mattioni.

Parma has loaned Rossi to Milan until seasons end, with an option to make the stay permanent for 2 million euros.

Milan Ready to Negotiate with Beckham

As a result of David Beckham’s immediate success in Serie A, Milan have been linked with a permanent move for the Englishman.

Beckham was in tremendous form on the weekend as helped Milan to a comfortable 3-0 win over Lazio. His continued excellent performance level is further fuelling speculation that Milan will try to extend his stay beyond March 9, when Beckham is expected to return to the United States ahead of the start of the MLS Season.

“He is a Los Angeles Galaxy player and we certainly cannot kidnap him,” joked Milan president Adriano Galliani in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I think he wants to stay, but I can only speak on behalf of the club and I know that Milan will do everything to keep Beckham.

“We intend to keep him until the end of the season or even complete a permanent move. There is still hope, but contracts have to be honoured. However, if Galaxy want to enter negotiations, we will be happy to give it a shot. We have to wait.”

Furthermore, Il Corriere Della Sera claims Beckham has already spoken to the Los Angeles Galaxy of his intention to remain in Milan, and that he has sent in his legal team to negotiate with the American club.

Beckham has asked for a consensual separation from Bruce Arena's side and his lawyers have just over a month to try and find a legal loophole that will permit him to leave.
