AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has revealed he came within a whisker of joining Bayern Munich.
Gattuso, who will miss the rest of the season with anterior cruciate ligament damage, has admitted he seriously considered leaving the Rossoneri last summer until he we persuaded to stay by influential general manager Adriano Galliani.
"I was close to joining Bayern but I am happy to have stayed," said the Italy midfielder.
"I want to thank Galliani who convinced me to stay. I think it was the right choice.
"I was really close to going but I am happy at Milan and proud to wear this shirt."
