AC Milan have revealed their intention to sign a new left-back in the January transfer window.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti is keen to use current full-back Marek Jankulovski in a more advanced role during the second half of the season which will create a vacancy in the back four.
However, managing director Adriano Galliani has denied reports that the Rossoneri are also desperate to sign a new central defender.
"Our goal is to buy a major player, a player at the highest level who plays as a left-back, because we plan a move to midfield for Jankulovski," he said.
"But I deny that we will sign a central defender as we have several players there with (Paolo) Maldini, (Kakha) Kaladze, (Daniel) Bonera and (Philippe) Senderos."
